Print Screen with Apple MAC (OS X 10.5 - Leopard)

For those of you who are used to the Print Screen (PrtScn) function in Windows you will know that you will get the whole screen if you just press PrtScn and you will get the selected window if you press ALT+PrtScn. You then have to paste the captured screen into an appropriate program e.g. Word Pad or Microsoft Paint.

Apple Mac has a different approach to this. (I have tried this on OS X 10.5 Leopard only)

To print screen on the Mac
Press the combination of the - SHIFT + Mac COMMAND Key (Flower Key) + 3
This will give you a full print screen.

To print a selection of the screen
Press the combination of the SHIFT + Mac COMMAND Key (Flower Type) + 4
The mouse pointer will turn into a selection target, click drag and release and it will printscreen the selected area for you.

The files of the printscreens are typically placed on the desktop as .PNG files

Cloud computing - what it is and how it has evolved

Many years ago Internet Service Providers (ISP's) and internet hosting companies languished in profits when users used the ISP's servers and hosting services to hold emails and files. At that time, these services were simply known as FTP (File Transfer Protocol) and just plain email (or POP3 email) services. During the noughties (2000-2009) or the oo's (ooh's) some may call it, Microsoft, developed their server systems and brought us newer technologies that allowed small and medium enterprises to host their own mail and filing systems, in the form of Microsoft Servers or Microsoft Small Business Servers (SBS), running Microsoft Exchange and Sharepoint services. This left many an ISP with little joy as they saw their profits from hosting, eroded by users and enterprises migrating away from their hosted services and starting up their own Microsoft server systems. So the question was, how do the hosting companies get users to come back to their hosted systems, which the

Windows 8 Store Not Working - Here's how to fix it.

Windows 8 Store for the most part will work without an issue, however, there are times when an app that is being installed may be stuck or if you lost connection during the middle of an install, the installation may become corrupted. So, how do you fix this... Microsoft are obviously aware that there is an issue here and they provided an APP troubleshooter to the effect... Go to the Microsoft page " What to do if you have problems with an App " and run through the troubleshooting process. If all else fails, at the bottom of the page there is a link to "APPS TROUBLESHOOTER". Download the program and run it. It will find and fix what it can and will normally end with a restart of the PC and a fixed Windows Store. Update: since writing the last entry, more methods have surfaced on how to get the Windows 8 Store back up and running... Method 2. Open an administrative Windows Command Prompt (right click "Command Prompt" and select "Run as Administ

Best Dual SIM mobile phones Australia 2017

All dual SIM mobile phones are the same, right? The answer is NO, they're not. And if you're unlucky enough to buy the wrong one, you could soon be stuck with a single SIM mobile phone. Why a dual SIM mobile phone ? The answer is varied for this one. There are many reasons why people have more than one mobile device. Some use it to juggle their girl/boy friends around, having different numbers for each. Some like to have a full on data SIM only device where they can Facebook, YouTube, Snapchat, Netflix and web all they want. But carrying two devices can be a drag. So here's where a dual SIM mobile phone comes in handy. For me it's simple... I've been carrying two mobile phones around for ages, one for business use, the other for personal . It just made so much more sense to carry one instead of two devices. Where to get dual SIM phones in Australia and where NOT to get them . So for the last few days, I've been on the hunt for a dua
